From survival mode to speed mode
Hamish Hooper blogs from on board CAMPER
We managed to get through the night in one piece, which was our first goal.
Having got the latest sked it seems Telefonica may not have, as they are only doing 12 knots. Hopefully the issues are not too serious on the blue boat.
At dawn Nico and Stu made the call that the wind had dropped enough to go back to the bigger fractional code zero. Luckily for us Daryl had worked through the night to repair the football sized hole whole in it, which had been taunting us for the day yesterday as it was flying high above the boat.
So now it seems the switch has been flicked back from survival to speed mode.
Again CAMPER is flying toward Lorient, our latest goal- chase down Groupama, and keep in front of Puma and Abu Dhabi who are close behind.
This is sure to be an exhilarating finish to this short but ultra intense leg.
GOLDEN QUOTE: ”With 140 odd miles to go, this race is still wide open. Everyone has the bit between their teeth and pushing as hard as humanly possible to get to Lorient in first place. We have a boat full of pretty exhausted men.”
