Dry suits dress of the day on the big cat
Dry suits are in for sailing crew on the big cat. That’s a first. Here’s how they look – an off-the-shelf solution for the time being – until team kit can be organised. There’s not a lot of similarity with the look at Valencia in 2007. Chris Cameron caught the boys at work before leaving the dock and out on the Hauraki Gulf. Click here.

Geez. Looks more like an armed offenders unit, or commandos troop. Probably appropriate thinking about it. This is a whole new ball game! I think it’s still sailing, but not as we know it. Nice work ETNZ.
Black/grey does not always look classy – as can we can see in these sinister, paramilitary-looking outfits. I would thought crew wish to be noticed, not camouflaged – as the liveries/uniforms worn by most rescue services and personnel demonstrate. The wing-sail shows how it could be done – lots of red and a splash of contrasting blue – so more easier to look at – and to notice.
Got to agree with Antony Skipper. Really grim unappealing gear. Looks like sailing is not meant to be fun anymore.
It’s not the final look. An interim off-the-shelf solution until a permanent one can be achieved.
I think they are fantastic, similar to when the are testing sports cars with matt black covers as not to show the full package prior to its release. Cant wait to see some footage of it sending it!
I like the clothes! It looks all Black for me. At least a Spirit what make the Entz so strong in those competion’s who New Zealanders compete in.
You deserve again the America’s Cup Title, so go for it and take it!
Cheers Alex
Love the colour. Black is threatening which what you want to opposition to feel every time they see the team on the water!
